Gratitude in the Rearview
Gratitude isn’t just a feeling we get around Thanksgiving—it's a lens that helps us see God’s hand through the highs and the heartbreaks.
In Psalm 103, David—old, seasoned, battle-tested—takes a moment to look back. He doesn’t list off victories, but blessings. He remembers forgiveness, healing, and redemption. He talks about how God brought him out of the pit and crowned him with compassion.
And that’s the invitation for all of us.
We don’t get to experience deep worship if we’re stuck only in the “right now.” The kind of worship that changes lives comes from reflecting on what God has already done—and trusting that even the closed doors were God’s mercy in disguise.
Just like the eagle that sheds its feathers to be renewed, we have to release what was to embrace what’s next. That might mean grieving what’s gone, or thanking God for the relationship, job, or season He didn’t allow. It’s all part of the process.
So today, take a moment to look in your rearview. You just might find that the things you once questioned are now the very things you’re most thankful for.
